What is Employer Visa?

Employer Sponsored Visa enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where they can’t find an appropriately skilled Australian worker.

Basic eligibility is that you must:

be nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor
have the right skills to do the job
meet the relevant English language requirements

Three main visa subclasses fall within this category, as set out below:

Temporary Skills Shortage – SC482 Visa

The SC482 Visa is a temporary employer sponsored visa designed to fill skill gaps in the Australian labour market where a labour shortage might otherwise exist. It enables a highly skilled employee to work full-time for an approved Australian employer, in a nominated position in which they are experienced and suitably qualified.

Employer Nomination Scheme – SC186 Visa

The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) – SC186 Visa is a permanent residency visa that requires sponsorship of a nominating employer. The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) allows Australian employers to nominate skilled foreign employees to work in Australia on a subclass 186 permanent residence visa.

This visa involves a two-step process; a nomination by an approved Australian employer and a visa application by the skilled overseas worker.

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional – SC494 Visa

The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa is a temporary, employer-sponsored visa.

The 494 allows a potential employer to sponsor a highly skilled person in a regional area to meet their business needs where a labour market shortage might otherwise exist.

This allows potential employees to rely on their skills, work experience and qualifications as an opportunity to migrate to Australia as a permanent resident.
