For every Australian visa type, the pricing structure is different. The cost comprises of the DOHA application charge, IELTS tests fee, Skill assessment application fee, police clearance certificate fee, medical examination, translation, and document certification charges along with migration advisor’s professional fees.
Unless you are an Australian citizen, you will need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. New Zealand passport holders can apply for a visa upon arrival in the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving home. You can apply for a range of Australian visa types, including tourist, working holiday, student, skilled and employer sponsored visas.
There are many advantages of hiring a migration expert. Australian immigration law is complex with different visa options and number of visa subclasses. Our migration advisor’s would help you in going through a complex visa case with ease. We will make you understand the legal requirements, the time-frame to apply for visas/reviews therby increasing the chances of a successful outcome.
The initial consultation allows us to gather the relevant facts of your case to be able to provide you with an accurate immigration advice on your available visa options.
- Providing false, incorrect or misleading information;
- Providing information that does not comprehensively demonstrate that certain legal requirements have been met;
- Nominating an incorrect occupation for a working visa or not sufficiently addressing applicable caveats;
- Failing health examinations;
- Not meeting the ‘Character Test’;
- Not providing evidence of English language test examinations, or taking these at the wrong time;
- Not demonstrating a ‘genuine and ongoing’ relationship, when applying for a partner visa.
While these issues occur most often, there can be other reasons why a visa application is refused due to the complexity of Australian immigration law.
Currently, to be eligible for Australian Citizenship by Conferral, you must:
- Hold an Australian permanent visa for at least one year;
- Have lived in Australia on a valid visa for the last four years or more;
- Have not been away from Australia for more than 12 months (total) over the past four years. That includes no more than 90 days absence in each of those four years.
Certain exemptions apply and other pathways to citizenship are available for some people.
The costs of applying for a visa can vary widely vary due to a number of factors, but in all cases you should consider the following costs and fees:
- The visa application charge.
- Immigration Lawyer/Migration Agent professional fees.
- Medical examinations.
- Police clearances.

- Health insurance cover.

Permanent residents can (in most cases) do the following:
- Remain in Australia indefinitely.
- Work without restrictions.
- Study in Australia.

Tourist & Visitor Visa
Applying to extend your stay in Australia can be quite complex and depends on a lot of things. These can include:
- your total time spent in Australia
- your current visa conditions
- your intended activities in Australia
No. You do need to arrange your visa, but you don't need a physical sticker or label in your passport.
Australia is a 'label free' visa system. If your visa is approved, you will be sent a visa confirmation e-mail (approval letter). A visa confirmation email is equivalent to a visa, but there is no stamp or label in your passport and there is no need for you to visit an Australian diplomatic office.
Your visa will be electronically linked to your passport number, so when you arrive at an airport for check-in on a flight to Australia, the airline check-in staff can electronically confirm that you have authority to board the flight to Australia.
Bringing your partner to Australia for a visit can be very simple in some cases and very complex in others. There are a few critical factors to consider such as the applicant's country of passport, their travel history to Australia, whether they are employed and a few other factors.
Some applicants can apply for an online visitor visa quickly and easily. Others must lodge an application and provide a lot of supporting documents. In some cases, there may be specific government policy supporting the grant of a visitor visa (for example if you have lodged a partner visa application also).
The best thing to do is start the process by taking an online assessment for a visitor visa. You will then be presented with service options. Once you proceed you can discuss your case with our registered migration professionals who will guide you through your situation and advise on how to proceed.
Please take an online assessment.
The Australian government advises that your passport should be valid for at least 6 months when entering Australia. However, this is advisory only. You may enter Australia if you have a valid passport at the time you enter. There is no requirement to have 6 months validity on your passport.
Please also note that the decision on whether to admit a person to Australia ultimately rests with the border staff. There is never a guarantee that you will be allowed entry no matter how long your passport is valid for.
Kengero Migration support the government's position that you should have at least 6 months validity on your passport when coming to Australia. However, we appreciate that there are times when it is impossible to obtain a new passport prior to your need to travel.
If you travel to Australia on a passport which has less than 6 month's validity you need to ensure that you either:
- Depart Australia before your visa expires (temporary visa holders only), or
- Obtain a new passport while in Australia;
- Inform the department of immigration immediately of any change of passport.
It is to be noted that some other countries do strictly adhere to a minimum passport validity rule, so if you intend on visiting or are transiting through any other countries, you will need to confirm with them that your passport validity will be acceptable.
Student Visa
There is no limit to when you can submit your student visa application. It is recommended that you lodge a complete application at least six weeks before your course commences.
Other Questions
Becoming 'unlawful' in Australia can have wide ranging consequences, especially for future visa applications. The length of time you have been unlawful and the next visa you plan to apply for are critical factors, so if you are in this situation the best thing to do is act now, don't delay.
Sometimes one day can make all the difference to your next application.
Depending on how long you have been unlawful you may have a three year ban on temporary visas. If you are planning on applying for another visa in Australia you may have what is called 'schedule 3' issues, which basically means that you will have to meet additional requirements that you would not have had to if you held a valid visa when you applied.
You should contact one of our experienced advisors immediately to discuss your situation.
Not always, but in some cases, yes you can. It depends on the details of your situation. Whether or not you can still obtain a Visa can depend on a number of factors such as the type of visa you previously held, the visa you are planning on applying for and whether there are compelling or compassionate circumstances affecting an Australian citizen or Australian business.
The three-year ban affects only some visas. There are some to which it has no effect at all. You should contact one of our experienced advisors to discuss your situation and options.
The Department of Home Affairs requests information for many reasons. When they do, you need to be very careful about what happens next.
There are many reasons you may be asked for information. For example, if you have applied for a student visa you may have been requested to provide information about your study history. This could be because the Department of Home Affairs has concerns that you are not a 'genuine student'. Or if you have applied for a visitor visa you may be asked to provide an ‘incentive to return home'. This generally indicates that they have a concern that you may not be a genuine visitor.
As registered migration agents our role is to know exactly why you have been asked for this information. It's not random! How you respond to a request for more information can make or break your case - leave it to a professional. You should contact one of our experienced advisors to discuss your situation.
If you have had a visa refused, there are a number of things to consider before deciding what you can do next. You may have the right to appeal the decision at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT). Whilst appealing the decision may be a great option for you, it is not always the best option.
For example, appealing a decision to the tribunal can be very expensive and take a lot of time. In some cases, it is cheaper and faster to lodge a new application making sure you meet all visa criteria. In other cases, appealing a refusal decision to a tribunal may be the best (and in some cases only) option.
How to proceed after a visa refusal can be of critical importance. Timeframes are also critical because review rights are time limited. If you have had a visa refused you should not delay, contact us immediately to discuss your options.
A sponsor in the context of Australia’s immigration laws is a person or institution that formally supports an applicant’s visa application. The sponsor nominates a person by name for the respective visa.
The requirements for acting as a sponsor depend on the respective visa class. For example, a sponsor of a Family visa must have a family relationship with the applicant; a Work visa sponsor must be a standard business sponsor.
Sponsorship is mandatory for some visa classes, such as for certain Work visas, Business visas and Investor visas, as well as Family and Partner visas.
The points test is mandatory for General Skilled Migration visas.
By means of the points system, the application is examined according to certain criteria and is allocated points in the categories of age, language skills, work experience, and education. You have to score a certain total point sum in order to be invited to apply for the respective visa class.
The Australian authorities accept the following English language tests for visa purposes:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic and General
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
- Occupational English Test (OET)
- Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT)
- CAE Cambridge Test: Certificate in Advanced English
