What is SC485 Visa?

The Subclass 485 is a temporary graduate visa which allows international students to live, study and/or work in Australia after the completion of their studies.

There are two ‘streams’ of this visa:

    Graduate Work Stream

    The Graduate Work Stream is for international students who have graduated with skills and qualifications which relate to an occupation on the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List).

    This visa is granted for a period of 18 months.

    CRITERIA FOR GRADUATE WORK STREAM:

    • have completed 1 or more relevant qualifications closely related to an occupation on the MLTSSL
    • have obtained (or applied for) a skills assessment by a relevant assessing authority for your nominated occupation

        Post Study Work Stream

        The Post Study Work Stream is for international students who have graduated with a higher education degree (Bachelor, Masters or PhD).There is NO occupations list for the Post Study Work Visa.

        This visa is granted for a period of 2 to 4 years.

        CRITERIA FOR POST STUDY WORK STREAM:

        • have graduated from a CRICOS-registered Bachelor degree, Masters or PhD
        • applied for your first student visa on or after 5 November 2011

        Common Criteria for All Graduate Visas:

        • be under the age of 50
        • you have met the ‘Australian study requirement’ within the last 6 months
        • be a passport holder from the UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland; OR
        • evidence that you have obtained the following minimum scores in an English test within the last 3 years:
          • IELTS – overall 6 with a minimum of 5 in each category
          • PTE – overall 50 with a minimum of 36 in each category
          • TOEFL iBT – total 64 with minimum of 4 for listening, 4 for reading, 14 for writing and 14 for speaking
          • OET – At least B for each category
          • Cambridge C1 Advanced – overall 169 with a minimum of 154 in each category
        • have adequate health insurance
        • meet health and character requirements
